If the number of spokes of the wheel is an even number, it is easy to generate a large stress between the 180-degree spokes, and cracks will occur when the tensile strength is exceeded.
If it is an odd number of spokes, the stress and deformation will be transferred to more spokes, which will play an evenly distributed role.
As for why it is not a three-spoke wheel hub, because the three-spoke wheel is too far apart, the force is still concentrated, and the five-spoke wheel hub is ideal. Also for this reason, ten-spoke wheels are generally arranged in a double-five-spoke manner.
